Calendar on wall, red marker. Slashes a big X – squeaking, laughing, crooked, perfect. Tosses marker, dances, ties shoes, stands at the door. Morning cool and bright, takes the first step.

Cubicle, buzzing light. Resignation sent. She opens guitar case, shuts monitor – walks out. City noise parts. At an art fair, lantern lights, small stage. Mic pop, first chord. A sustained note soars. Crowd still. Silence – hers.

Evening, kitchen table. Single lamp draws gold across wood. She's still – not tired, just quiet. All the running, climbing, dancing is inside as steady heat. She whispers “I carry the glow.” Leaves the lamp on. The glow stays.
